PC memory card reader

I have a card reader in my PC. If I get a brand new card and pluf it into the reader, what sould happen?

I want to put some files on it but can't see it on Windows Explore.

When I got the PC, I took the cover off and the reader wasn't even plugged in! I have plugged it in now. When I plug the card into it, a light comes on for a second or so and that's it.

When you look in MY Computer, you should see the card reader listed under Devices with removable storage.

It sounds like the drivers need to be installed. Do you have a partition on your hard drive with drivers etc.?

How big is the card you are trying to read? Ive got a card reader on my Brother printer, but it only reads a maximum of 512mb cards.

If you can't see it in My Computer, you won't read/write to any size card.

Sorry guys, I found it. It was mapped to my non descript "H" drive. The card was also write protected.....I think it's copying now....
