Siliconed on pictures

Just wondering if any of you DIYers have any idea on how to remove (without taking too much, if any, of the plaster) siliconed on (or no nails) pictures from a wall. My ex  just loved the stuff and siliconed everything (including wallpaper!!). I want to decorate my downstairs bathroom without having to re-plaster the walls. Any help is much appreciated.

you could try a heat gun. It would be messy.
Or just scrap it of.Not Again0 -
plumb centre etc sell silicone remover which disolves silicone, (if it's silicone it will feel rubbery)0

No good getting that though if you cant get to the silicone...eg if its behind a picture !You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -
Thanks for your replies; I'm worried about prising them off because of the glass smashing/flying into my face. Would a heat gun crack the glass? I'm hoping he only used a small amount on each corner but unfortunately, knowing him he probably used a whole tube on each photo...:eek:0

No suggestions but just had to share some sympathy - I'd have gone barmy if my OH had done that. How hard is it to knock a nail in the wall to hang a picture?!
Actually, just one thought - if you're worried about the glass breaking, could you wrap the picture in a couple of layers of cling film before attempting to remove it? Should contain the glass if it does break... Or tape a bit of old material to the frame, again to hold glass pieces in if necessary.0 -
Thanks think I will put tape over the glass before trying to prise them off - will report back! He did send me barmy but at least he had the decency to leave me!!! but not before leaving my house in a complete state. DIY just wasn't his thing - used a (my) palette knife to plaster the ceiling - well... not really plaster, artex the ceiling I think its called.0
