i've just tried out the Schwarzkopf Live Salon Style Intense Red.. hoping it doesn't wash out too quickly.

Does anyone know of a brighter red i can get without bleaching my mid brown hair?

Majicontrast is very good its a professional product and quick pricey though but i think its the best one about. Or you could try manic panic.

Beware if you have any kind of skin allergies, schwarzkopf dyes contain an ingredient which make them much stronger - in fact I turned into the elephant woman after years of using hair dye, but only using one of theirs once

I now use garnier nutisse ultra colour (vibrant red) which doesn't cause a reaction and lasts about 4 weeks. I tend to use the conditioner contained in the box for about 5 washes to keep the colour vibrant. HTH x

Feria are also about as bright, but in terms of going brigher, you cannot colour brighter you can only strip away colour to make things brighter, inevitably you'd have to prelighten at some stage and yes, that would mean using a form of bleach. Get this done at a salon as it could be very easy to end up with a patchy or uneven result.

Best advice would be to take it very very slowly and use a lot of hair treatment oils inbetween but make sure they are suitable for coloured hair as many, especially coconut oil can make hair colour bleed out.

Hiya! About 2 months ago, I started dying my hair bright red! I absolutely LOVE it, but what Im not loving so much is the upkeep! Now, I understand that red fades quicker than other colours, but I didnt think Id be re doing it about once every three weeks! So, Ive got a couple of questions...

How can I make it last a bit longer? Anyone got any tips, or tricks that I could use?

And secondly, to other 'bright red hair dyers'... What brands have you found to be the best, and how long are they lasting on average?

    Muchly thanks in advance!!

Box dyes are rubbish & they slide off hair. When I used the box dyes it needed doing at least once a month. At the college only every 2 months (because of roots), it grows out rather than slides off.

i totally agree, box hair dye is crap tbh, if you want a much more lasting vibrant result use salon professional products they cost more initially but will save money in the long time!

there are a few videos on youtube..

have to say I dyed my hair last night with henna, I use the cacau rouge from lush. quite vibrant but not pillar box red - nice alternative. I used 1/2 block for my should length hair.
