Hi supermum4 - sorry the link didn't work; I can't guarentee it will work for everyone - all I did was look at the incorrect link I was sent by easyjet, transposed the correct information (ie put in the correct e-mail address) and found that it worked.

For anyone looking for guidance as to how to use my link above, you will need the e-mail address and pasword you use to login to your easyjet account; you then need to

[1] copy and paste the link into a new web page

    h**p://easyJetmail.com/cgi-bin2/DM/y/eeOd0JGdl20NuI0BSJv0E2&l=EN&bookref=INSERTBOOKINGR EFHERE&email=INSERTEMAILADDRESSHERE

[2] change the h**p to http

[3] highlight the section in the address that says INSERTBOOKINGR EFHERE and type in your booking ref in capitals - it should look something like EC4ALPG

[4] highlight the section in the address that says INSERTEMAILADDRESSHERE and type in your e-mail adress in lower case.

[5] Move the curser to the end of the address (ie after the last character of your e-mail address and pres the 'Enter' key on your keyboard to load the page.

Below is a sample working link to show you what you should get when the page loads (do not try and use this link itself - you need your own details in the link) - you need to enter the password you use to login after which the page to pay the £5 should be visible.

Apologies for incomplete message above. Should have read:
Thanks so much for the 01582525422 number. I phoned it at 10.55am, waited ten minutes and got to speak to a real person! Paid the APD on flight booked on December 1st and also asked why Easyjet hadn't put a link on their website and was told they had tried but system wouldn't allow it. I have also got a flight I booked on January 1st. Was told there was no duty payable on this flight as already included. Apparently Easyjet have sent out thousands of e-mails but many have never reached recipients - like me!

I booked two flights from Stansted to Naples for Easter week on 4th Jan.

Yesterday I heard about EJ cancelling peoples flights if tehy had not paid their increased tax by today 15th Jan, so checked on MyEasyJet or whatever it is and no mention of the extra charge. Tried emailing them and received an automated reply that a response would take up to 20 working days.

Only by chance did I look here today and found the link in this thread. Checked it with my details and bingo - £10 please !!!

Also check the fares yesterday and they were still quoting the same taxes and charges that I paid - £18, so they have still not updated their site with the new taxes.

    So points come to mind.

    1. Is their pricing and non updated taxes a ploy to make their fares seem cheaper than they are to get the bookings. the prices their website quoted yesterday is not the prices you will eventually pay.
    2. If they are cancelling booking today without informing the customer by either email or via their online booking reference, then is this legal? Will they cancel flights and then resell the seat and get double the money? Not sure about this, but as this is the first time I have booked with EJ, I am not impressed so far :-(

    Food for thought

  • OK folks, just called EasyJet and got through in about 5 mins.

Now I booked my flights early Jan for April travel and also used this link and was advised that I had to pay the extra duty.

I then called Easy Jet to confirm this and was told the following.

I did not need to pay the extra duty, the duty was correct at the time of booking.

EasyJet will look into why their website told me I had to pay the extra. So if you have paid extra for flights booked after 6th December, call EasyJet to get a refund.

They also told me that NO flights will be cancelled today. This information is completely wrong.

I did suggest that they put some info on their homepage to reflect the current situation.

    hth

  • Hurray at last a definitive answer from Easyjet. Many thanks for clearing up the questin of whether those of us who booked after 1 Jan needed to pay the extra, wwhich we don't! I can now stop worrying.

    Thanks.
  • I booked way back in Sept 06 for flights to Barcelona. Am I expected to pay? I think I have read that as it was booked pre December I get away with it. Can anyone confirm this?
    Thanks

No, if you booked pre 6th Dec for flights after 1st Feb, you will have to pay the extra tax, £5 per person as it is only on the outward leg
