in Techie Stuff
Our current TV has broke and Tesco have been unable to arrange a repair and so are allowing us to return to store for the money back.
So we are looking into a new one but we are a little stuck.
The last two TVs we have had have been plasma 50 inch, one LG and one Samsung and both broke which has really put me off plasma. Previous TV was a 37inch orion LCD or LED and had it for 3 years with no problems.
We found with both plasma's that the burn in was terrible especially when we gamed, the most recent was the worst for it.
However most techies have argued saying that burn it doesn't happen with plasma's anymore...The problems have been with the screen so would that have been why we had burn in?
Which is the better for gaming?
Also if anyone could give some recommendations for tvs that would be great.
Ideally looking for 50inch, HD, I would prefer lcd/led however my partner is happy with the plasma.
Thanks

Everything will be ok in the end, and if it isn't ok then it isn't the end

Sony Bravia - don't know which model but that is what I have - only 32 inch.
But I would prefer a Samsung, can't recommend model - browse their web site. Just think Samsung make some quality stuff, Sony tend to be ok but expensive and you can the same things cheaper elsewhere.
Or Philips - always trustworthy. This little baby would be nice for gaming and watching tv.
Amazon etc has plenty of user reviews - you could see what is popular and rated by other people.0 -
Wow thats one heck of a tv shame my budget doesnt extend that far!
I wouldn't have another samsung, might consider a LG one again though.
How trustworthy are amazon reviews though I am sure I saw something recently (maybe on here actually) about people being paid to leave fake reviews?
The bravias look good though

Yeah the Bravias are good - mine one cost about £700 (2 / 3 years ago) - GRRR but it is HD thingy and 1080 or something (didn't understand much of it, just sounded good). It works - just wish it were bigger. Sony do have reputation for TV market. Samsung I have started leaning to for a new PC monitor and maybe tv in future.
You can get a Bravia for half the price now - well you could back when I got it but I was after something flash (but you buy one day, next day out of date).
Philips would love that - if only but very expensive - used to have an old CRT type Philips, worked for years- even had water spill into back of it once and it fired up after a few days being left to dry.
Amazon I trust - just because its well known and used a lot, the reviews - well read them and generally people tell the truth about a product - good or bad.0 -
How was burn in terrible? You'd need to be leaving bright static images on for hours at a time to even get image retention (which goes away) never mind burn in!
Anyway, Panasonic make great plasmas, I believe they're ahead of LG and Samsung with them, and I don't really think Samsung are very committed to plasma. Plasma has been better for gaming since repsonse time (the time from the TV receiving the signal to actually displaying) is generally better, but things have improved for LCD on that front.0 -
I use my Panasonic plasma a lot for PS3 games, and there's no visible damage to the screen. I've had it about 6 months.0

Finally sorted it.
In the end we went for lg 50pt353k

Its essentially what we had before but cheaper haha.
Does anyone know what the optimum settings are for it?
