Tax credits- updating info

My salary for 2011/12 will be approx £8,000 more than 2010/11. I was told that there is no need to advise tax credit people as this was an increase of less than £10,000. If I don't does that mean that I will end up owing them money at the end of March 2012.

  • You are best to tell them just now but your award will continue to be based on your 10-11 income. If you don't tell them just now you will not have been overpaid for the 11-12 tax year but you may find you have been overpaid from April 2012 up until when the renewal is completed.
