  • Thanks OP, picked up 2 school sets today one for daughter and one for neice, but would only give double the difference on one!! :(
I did argue my case but she wasnt having any of it, tried saying that they can only double the difference on 1 of the same item.
Is it cheeky to make a call to customer services??

(The cars were there but not stickered)

    call customer services ASAP
  • Rang customer Services and they read out the policy that they have in a booklet. It states, if a customer is overcharged due to misprice on the SEL or promotional SEL a DTD refund is allowed as goodwill. So basically as it was stickered with incorrect price and not on SEL then im not entitled. Very misleading then and why DTD on one and not the other....covering themselves. Tho the lady did say to speak to the customer services manager next time I was there and see what he says....

If you check the blue board behind customer services which says if 'thing dont add up' it says if the SEL or price on the item is not correct. Also im sure it does not say as goodwill but it is their policy to give you double the difference.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, this is why I argued while I was there..... Originally she wanted to refund them and sell them at reduced price. I said 'what about the DTD then?' and she said she would see what she could do, fiddled with a few buttons on the till then told me she could refund one with double the difference but not both so I pointed to the board and said, where does it state that as Ive been overcharged for both so I expect the DTD for both, she wouldnt shift and said thats all she could do, manager was unable to come as the store is being refurbished and wasnt answering his phone.
I walked out with the intentions of phoning but wasnt sure if it was cheeky or not!?
Anyway, I couldnt remember word for word what the board said about the 'stickers' so when she read what was on thier policy booklet I didnt know what to say! But she said there is no mention of marked or stickered items, just SEL or promotional label in thier booklet.
  • been to 3 tesco's n not one school or car sticked, they have them but not with a half price sticker :(
  • No Convertibles left in Musselburgh today but they had a few of the School sets. this was perfect timing as my son has a party on thursday so nothing better than a decent pressie for nothing :)

Phone customer services whenever you don't get what you were expecting. I went into an extra and found both the school set and convertible, both with the half price stickers on. Both had SEL of 25.00. Went through at 25 each so paid up and went to CS. Girl (not a trout) went to check the shelf and came back saying it is advertised on the shelf as 25 but as the product had a sticker on I had been overcharged. She wrote on receipt "O/C" and called her manager. She then gave me only 25 back. I said it is supposed to be double and pointed to the board. She said no that's only if the SEL is wrong. I said no, pointed to the bit that says "or on the product" wand said it should be DTD. She said it was managers discretion and manager had said JTD. I stood firm and said, no it is your policy to refund DTD and called head office from the desk using my mobile (use 01208340800up0800505555# to dial using your inclusive minutes for free).

First guy I spoke to said no its JTD, but somehow we mysteriously got cut off, so called again and spoke to someone who actually knew what they were talking about who said yes it should be DTD regardless that the SEL was the price I was charged. Head office wanted to speak to the manager so he was called to the desk and they put him straight.

End result was all my money back, the 2 toys for nothing and an APOLOGY from the manager.
I miss too many pages due to work so if you need an answer from me, please send me a PM.

I had a similar flimsy excuse. I was overcharged on 2 identical RTC items. CS would only give DTD on one item and not the 2nd. Apparently I'd been compensated for both by getting one JTD and one DTD. I asked what would have happened had they been in different transaction and apparently they would both have been DTD.

One call to CS who confirmed the store were talking out their proverbial so she sent out a gift card for the remaining JTD so got the 2 DTDs in the end.
