Bridesmaid gift ideas please

Hi

I am looking for ideas as to how to say thank you for the bridesmaids (I'll leave OH to deal with BM and Ushers - well that's what I'm saying now :)).

I am having four - of varying ages from 14 - 38. My SIL2B got married in 2010 and is one of bridesmaids gave her girls a beautiful book - which went through how they 1st met etc and how they were special to her etc etc.

THat idea is now out for me as I want to do something thats from me and OH and not related. But I am stuck for ideas.

I am looking to give them all a present, but I wanted some way of just setting out/down that they were special and that could be differnet for each of the ladies (though haven't decided whether they will all have teh same pressies as well yet).

Wedding is next August... but am really struggling on this one.

Any help gratefully received...:)

We gave our bridesmaids personalised charm bracelets. We found a site (I'll try and dig it out) that does *thousands* of different charms, so we got 5 for each of them, each of which meant something to us about the bridesmaid in question.

We then wrote a little card about each bracelet and stuck it in the box - with something like this written on:
"Dear X, thanks so much for being our bridesmaid, we love you etc etc

Dancing Shoes - Because you love to dance
Ice Skates - To remind you of all our times down on the rink
Football - For the Manchester United fan...
    etc"

They went down really well, they all matched but were personal to each person.
  • I gave mine Butler & Wilson enamel and crystal compact mirrors in a colourful butterfly design (to tie in with my B&W jewellery) and wrote them each a personal thank you card.
  • I gave Celtic design silver bangles, also not sure if everyone does this but i also bought the shoes, dressses and tiara's seem's like some people ask there bridemaids to pay.

Thanks everyone for all ideas. Definately food for thought.

I will be buying their dresses, shoes etc. But I was just looking for that extra special something ....

Umm just thinking doesn't have to besomething bought I guess...

    PLease keep the ideas coming.

    Thanks:)
  • I've been a bridesmaid twice and for one wedding got vouchers for a spa day, and for the other got a lovely little vintage-style mirror compact (which currently lives in my handbag).

If you don't necessarily want to buy something, could you maybe get copies of photos from the hen do (if you're having one), or the wedding itself if you're not so bothered about giving them the gift on the day (if you're not having all formal shots then maybe one of the more informal ones, like whilst you're getting ready) and put them in a nice frame? Or even make a collage?

Another option - which I recommend quite a bit on here - is maybe going to one of those paint your own pottery places and painting a mug or something with their names and the date of the wedding. You could also personalise it a bit similarly to the charm bracelet suggestion by painting on things they love. Even if you're not an artist it doesn't matter; the effort is what counts.

Or alternatively, what about making up a basket of nice cheap smellies/pampering stuff (so hair masks, face masks, wash out hair dyes, nail polishes, nice bath stuff, mini body butters etc) with a note saying 'Thanks for being my bridesmaid, here's something to help you relax after all your hard work!"? Boots and Superdrug normally sell miniatures of those things for holidays and they're not awfully expensive.

How about something simple like silver pendants or gold if you have the budget that will double as their wedding jewellery...
I might be wrong but is your theme apples....maybe an apple pendant...?

Peridot is a fairly cheap precious stone and a lovely green colour ...not so dark as emerald so you could consider that...

I found a lady on ebay who made personalised pretty wooden hanging plaques, and jewellery boxes..they were fantastic..lovely keep sakes and very reasonable priced and ou can choose from a variety of colours and chooses wording. Think the ebay shop was called wooden handcrafted gifts.

My friend was a BM last year, one of 4 as well, though they were all friends of a similar age. They all got treated to a spa day, with each one getting a different treatment that the bride had chosen knowing what they particularly liked. It was a lovely gift for each (though not very MSE!)
  • We brought for all of our bridesmaids and grooms men these -
    http://stores.ebay.co.uk/handpaintedglassngifts

wine glasses for the girls with image of what they looked like in detail - hair colour, style, necklace, flowers, shoes with a message on the back saying thanmkyou with thier name and date, and the guys got a pint glass with their image on.
Was so pleased with them, and everyone loved them.
I also did a photo album for each of the girls with memorable pictures of the years we have been friends and few from the hen do and wrote a message on the front page saying thankyou etc and IOU a picture from the wedding, then i got one of the pics of the 5 of us printed and gave them for their album.

    hope get some good ideas!
