A couple of days ago, Vista did some updates on my pc and left a folder called fcd5097976418f53c174efbc95 on the C drive
It has 4 files in it - one of them is called 'Windows6.0-KB970158-x86.cab'
When I try to delete the files or the folder, I get you do not have permission. Question is how do I get permission, it won't let me do anything in the Properties?

Have you tried in safe mode?
You could also try
http://emcosoftware.com/move-on-boot
Or you may get a response after running an unlocker
http://emcosoftware.com/unlock-it
You can usually delete those folders but maybe waiting another couple of days would be better, CCleaner for example is usually set to delete temp files after 48 hours0 -
Thanks - Tried emcsoftware unlock first - that did not work.
Command prompt in safe mode has removed the file/folders.0 -
Thank You for letting me know0
