Tax Credits Change of Circs...

So, you have 1 month to report a change in circumstances. I am redundant as of 18th Sept, so if I reported it on 17th Oct, I'd still be ok? And receive the four week run on? Shout away at me, I know I deserve it but I'd be better off on solely my TCs than IS and CTC - possibly means I can keep lo in nursery for some precious additional time to find a job also which means my childcare issues are slightly less (just 3 days extra to find :S)!

Can anyone confirm the above? And apologies to those who I've offended, I'm not work shy, the longest I've been unemployed is 8 minutes! I'm just trying to do what's best for myself and my daughter, and increase my chances of gaining a new job. :)

  • The four week run on includes the time that you haven't told them about it.

So if you lost your job on the 1st but didn't tell them until the 21st then you would only be entitled to the run on for one week.

Ah, I thought as much! When I rang them the other week, the lady said different but I wasn't paying 100% attention as we were trying to sort something else out so thought I'd better check! :)
  • Are you aware you would still owe the extra money you have been paid back though?

If I left it over the 1 month time period, yes - and I read something about a possible £300 fine! 1 month is fine though due to the 4 week run on, I'll be ringing them on Monday though to update :)
