Hi,
I got a parking ticket last night (in the courtyard parking area outside my flat).
I do have a valid parking permit--which wasn't stuck to my windscreen but was positioned in the "clock tray" on my dashboard (you could see it).
What is interesting, is that they have marked the ticket contravention as: "94) Parked without displaying a valid ticket/permit." Even though there is the option to mark it: "83) Parked without clearly displaying a valid ticket permit".
I have genuine photographic evidence of how the permit was displayed.
What should I do?

Simple do nothing. Just ignore them.
They will threaten you with all sorts of dire consequences ..starting with a County Court action...but they wont follow through and if hell freezes over and they do issue a claim ..you have a solid defence.#
Ignore the clowns and get on with your life.0 -
Theres 5 stickies at the top of this board saying ignore, and approx 10000 posts in this forum saying ignore, guess what your answer will be?Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

You should put it in a draw, keep the photos (just in case), ignore any correspondence from the PPC and, as Sirdan posts, get on with your life!
In your case, I would add one more piece of advice, I would actually make sure you display the valid permit next to your tax disc on the windscreen in future. Is it tax disc sized? Get a permit holder and stick it to the window. Mainly just because the PPC's monkey might keep banging an invoice on your window until you do, and unless you want lots of junk mail, then it might be worth a little effort.
Also tell everyone else in your building about the website and that the PPC 'managing' your buildings car park are a bunch of scamming crooks and if they fall foul of their tactics they should do the same.0 -
Actually, I note that Crabman does not have any invoices and threat letters from Vehicle Control Services on the stickie thread at the top of the page.
Can you kindly post them up on that thread, so if anyone else gets the junk mail they can spot them on the site?
Make sure you take off your reg, address and reference details before posting.0 -
Awesome. I shall ignore it then.

Is this a solid defense?
@funkycoldribena: I have read all of the advice, but people (including myself) need personal reassurance that their situation is applicable. PS. Cool name

Even if you weren't displaying, what actual losses have they incurred? Zero.0

You don't need a defence, you have a permit, and they have, as AlexisV posts, lost nothing, so you owe them... that is right... nothing.
If you were dealing with a reasonable company you could write and the point this out, along with a photo and they would say, oh yes, no problem... BUT YOU ARE NOT. They are in this for profit (and very big profits!) and will 'manage' this car park, possibly for free, or even give the freeholder some kick-back money so if they don't get money out of you, they don't make a profit!
I would nip out and buy yourself a new tax disc holder to fix your permit to the windscreen though to stop future invoices!0 -
