I sent a letter by 1st class recorded delivery and when tracked it on line for signature there was not one.

Why is the post office not getting signature for recorded delivery letters anymore. :mad:

Its been an ongoing problem for years. if you want guaranteed tracking special delivery is your only option. You can claim back the 79p RD part if they dont get a signature.

I will do that the next time, I also note that they keep trying to push 'special delivery' on to customers and that is very expensive over a fiver for a small letter to be posted locally.

Why are the misleading customers with recorded delivery when they do not carry out what it is suppose to do. This must be a breach of some act.

I've been getting Recorded Delivery letters just posted through the letterbox for years. Sometimes I think the postie is "doing me a favour" by signing for me but in reality he's not doing the sender (who's paid for the service) a favour, and he's probably doing it for his own sake rather than mine. Perhaps they're judged on the number of deliveries they have to return to the depot?

They don't treat them the same as Special Delivery or normal post and for some reason when I was working with a company that sent 5-6 a week I think about 3 would get delivered and signed for, 1 I could confirm was delivered due to the response but RM never got a signature and a couple went missing.

Special is worth the upgrade to be honest.
