As the title says really, I am toying with the idea of buying one looking on Amazon there are a few to choose from. I will not be keeping Win 7 on it as I am about to embark on a development project using the new developer version of Windows 8 which for all intents has been designed around tablets and touchscreen. The 2 I am looking at are these:

and

A few people have had the odd minor problems but on the whole they have both got some great reviews.
Do I really need to spend twice the price to get essentially the same thing with a branded sticker on????

Ok - here's a (perhaps unduly) sceptical view:
The Chinese makers of this type of gear seem to have adopted a business model that reduces their Customer Support and ongoing development costs to zero. They do this by changing their identity every few months - hence the products never have a "brand" as such.
If it ever stops working, you will be stuffed, as the company that sold it to you will have vanished (or more accurately, recreated itself in a different name), and the company that made it can safely ignore you, knowing that you aren't going to come after them in China.
Of course, you might get lucky and get sent one that works perfectly for ever...0 -
hm its a lot of money to 'risk' although with Amazons CS it might not be that bad.
my thoughts might be more along the lines of one of the really cheap andriod pads since windows 8 is suposed to work on a ARM cpu - however i would look into this before i spent any moneyDrop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
If it is for a hobby then stick to Win 8 in a VM until you reach a point that you find a decent quality tablet at a reasonable price or you intend to make it a commercial venture and can justify the investment.
Personally, I would wait for better tablets before committi any money.ng0 -
To be honest you said it all in the title of this thread mate "These Cheap Chinese Windows 7 Tablets"
I honest wouldn't spend any money on these and save up for a couple more months and get a better quality one. You really do get what you pay for.

I see that your looking at a win 7 tablet, but there are some decent sub £200 tablets out running Android. They have all been reviewed in this months edition of Stuff Magazine. Not sure if it helps.
