Hi chums,
Got an iPhone 3G currently, getting an iPhone 4 later. What is the best most foolproof way to ensure my contacts are transferred to the new iPhone?
If I backup existing, and then restore backup to the new phone, will that carry the Contacts accross?
The contacts don't ever appear in the iTunes sync pages.
Any help much appreciated.

plug your iphone 3g into itunes, sync with a full back up, check on the extra pages under the iphone option that contacts etc are being synced too.
when you plug in your iphone 4 itunes will ask if you want to set it up as a new phone, or restore from your back up. if you restore from your back up your itunes should set your phone up as your 3g was when you backed up. apps in the same place, sms messages etc etc etc. i had to do this with a replacement iphone 4 on monday, took an hour with with 30gb of data, but it was effortless...0 -

Doesn't answer your question but is it worth holding off for a month to see if the rumours are true and that the Iphone 5 will be out either late Sep/Oct.
If it does come out then you can either get newer technology or the price of the 4 should come down.0 -
Thanks for your replies, the phone was free!0

Thanks for this, I don't use an email client as such (use webmail). On iTunes it asks you to sync contacts to something (yahoo/windows etc) what does it mean? or is this just where the contacts are then stored so when you restore from backup it pulls them from there?
The contacts on my phone don't match the contacts in any of my email accounts.
Sorry to be dense.0 -
I have a googlemail account (free) and then set that up on my phone. I believe my contacts are then synced as googlemail contacts, they are put into my address book on my Mac...0
