Sound Card

Tried fitting a sound card to my rig last night with no success, its a creative fatality card, not new but i was told was working. Windows 7 could not detect it at all ?? Am i missing something or do you think as i do that its goosed.

Have you searched for the drivers on the Creative website? That would be a good start.

Sounds like the card could be faulty, once Windows boots you should have been notified that the system has found new hardware. You should also see the soundcard listed in the device manager, if no drivers are found you should see the device listed with a yellow alert triangle. If the card isn't listed in device manager it hasn't been detected. Might be worth trying the card in a different slot or a different system to confirm.

Yes did that but but when i try to install it tells me no device installed ?? even the creative automated software for detcting and identifying a device could not find it ?

Did you disable the onboard sound? might be a conflict issue

Yep Spank tried all that, i personally think its knackered, serves me right for buying from a friend of a friend on another note do i know you from RSoBB ??
