We ordered on the 2nd of September 48 Belgian Chocolate cupcakes for £35 from marks and spencer online to be picked up on the 28/09 the day before our wedding.
My cousin was asking about the cakes on wednesday night so told her to have a look online. She couldnt find them anywhere so I went online to have a look. They had dissappered from the website. So yesterday I called marks and spencer to see what had happened. They have discontinued these cupcakes and no longer do chocloate ones so we were told to pick another type! No apology or anything.
I asked when they were going to contact us to let us know this as it was 2 weeks to the day till the wedding. I was informed that they have a list and would of got round to calling before the day  The cupcakes now on sale have gone up by £13 as well. So we have to have strawberry instead of chocloate and they tried to charge us the £48 instead of the £35. The only thing they have agreed to is when they are picked up they will refund the £13 back onto the card, as a gesture of goodwill
It is shocking service from m&s as we have no guarentee that that they would of called us before the wedding, we could of turned up to pick them up and just not had any the day before!
So if anyone has ordered the belgian chocolate cupcakes, be warned that you wont get them and will have to choose a different variety or cancel.

Ah no that's terrible not the kind of service you would expect from M&S!
I'm glad you found out now and not the day before. It might be worth a letter of complaint to their Head Office.Turning our clutter to top up our house deposit: £3000/£303.05 we're on our way!0 -
well marks and spencer have outdone themselves now for disgusting behaviour!!!
went on last night to show cousin 'new' cakes we had ordered the strawberry and vanilla ones, and we couldnt find them online!!
called just now and they have bloody discontinued them as well. Again no phone call to tell me they will be cancelling my order! The girl i spoke to is calling me back when she knows what is going on!
I have less than 2 weeks to go till my wedding and only 8 working days, so running out of options to get new cakes. Someone has said waitrose do them online but i cant find any on there.
I have been in tears this morning over this, how can they cancel 2 orders without informing the person who ordered!!!0 -

rather than messing around with large outfits
have you no local bakers who can do exactly what you want?0 -

nope have asked the local 2 and the prices were extortionate!! we are on such a tight budget that we wouldnt go to that.
I have a friend asking her friend how much she would charge. and if she could do them at such short notice. less than 2 weeks to go!0 -
I'd imagine you're unlikely to still want to use them but if you are struggling, marks and spencer do have the 48 Glitter Vanilla cupcakes on their website, and I'd hope with the trouble you'd been through they would do them for your original price.
Hope you manage to get something sorted.0 -
Don't worry Divadee. There is still time to get you a cake. You need to go into the store and speak with a manager. Sundays are not the best day as the people they need to speak to if its an old design won't be available. Pop in Monday and calmly explain that you have had two orders cancelled and see what options are available for you. There are things they can do so don't worry. M&S has a history of solving problems just like yours.0

i have sent a very strongly worded email to m&s, but i am now looking at tescos cupcakes and going to buy off the shelf. They are cheaper and hopefully wont let me down!!!0 -

i have just lost total faith in m&s. i would worry that they wouldnt turn up the day before leaving me with nothing!! i looked at the huge chocolate curl type wedding cake longingly for ages, but budget wouldnt allow!! so relieved i didnt try and get it now, would of panicked me senseless!!!0 -

speak to the manager and ask nicely to see if they'll have enough stock and if they'll keep the right amount aside for you, might also stop them if they were going to kick off about you buying a bulk loadYes Your Dukeiness

just spoken to tescos and they cant order the right amount so said i would have to take pot luck on the day!!!
then called waitrose who couldnt have been more helpful. The baker is going to call me back with the options and only need 2-3 days ordering notice. Thats how companys should do business!!!
marks and spencer have been a shambles. As soon as an item is discontinued they should call you, not wait for you to call them!!
thanks for the help though. hope this thread stops other brides going through the stress of this! do not order from m&s!0
