Exactly, I skidded my bike, few hundred quid for some poxy bits of plastic, and £90. £90 to Yamaha for 2 stickers!!0 -
Always go through the insurance!!
I would disagree with this in principle as it just means higher premiums for both of you come renewal and one more accident on the stats they use to justify raising everyone's prices every year.
That said, first sign of the person who hit you being funny, straight to the insurance it goes, the OP and her son have done exactly the right thing in this particular case.0 -
it always goes through insurance, never agree to anything else. also call the police for threatening behaviour, that is a crime. watch the boyfriend fade away when he sees your son grew a pair.
Very good advice.:T
Your son is obliged to report all incidents. Unfortunately this may increase his own premium even where he is not at fault."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Which is why you include you estimated increase in premiums in the claim so you are not out of pocket in comming years.
OP make sure you do this.0 -

I would fully agree with this, and to be fair, that's kinda how I read the post, but yeah, agreed.
In fact case in point; My bike was hit at low speed by a Pajero (with me riding on it ).
I'd like to think I skilled it to a stop, but it was more luck coupled with a slow speed.
In the event, the driver (mum w/kids in back) wasn't funny at all, and so I looked at her battle-wagon for scratches, none.
Looked at my bike, no damage as I could tell, nice one - She appeared to be more glad no-one (ie me) came to harm, which let's be honest is the one reaction you want more than anything, from any 3rd party.
Turned out that she'd actually bent the centre-stand by a few inches, but absolutely nothing else, so no need to involve anyone's insurers, but of course had the other party turned nasty or anything other than helpful then it's off to the insurers you toddle..0
