The drive on my PC refuses to open everytime I load up windows.

Basically, the drive is showing under my computer and in the device manager and shows as working correctly, no yellow or red markings.

To get the drive to become operational, I have to make some sort of alteration to it under the device manager. For instances uninstall and re-install or change the drive region (I know I can only do this a few times).

I have just discovered even just right clicking and choosing properties brings the drive into operation.

I've heard of drives disappearing from device manager and my computer, but never the problem I'm having.

Any ideas?

It's a HL-DT0ST BDDVDRW CT30N drive if it matters in a Medion Akoya laptop, running windows 7 64 bit.

EDIT...I should add that the doing the above opens the drive and it works for a while, but 10 mins later if no disc has been inserted, it refuses to open again

this is old stuff .it may not be relevant to your drive and should have been fixed a long time ago ,but its worth a try , Upper and Lower filters

Thanks for the reply, sadly no luck.

It's not a massive issue just a niggly one. I found even if I right click on it under my computer and choose properties it starts working.

I'll try just leaving a disc in the drive constantly as it seems to work fine if there is a disc in it.
