How long does your Da Bird last?

To all the cat owners out there who have bought Da Bird: how long do your feathers etc last before they get ruined?

Having had other feather danglers that were quickly destroyed by my two little Bengal terrors, I decided to buy Da Bird, along with refills, from Purrs in our Hearts.

Today, I had a play with it for the first time with the two spotty rascals and the feathers lasted all of 5 minutes before being broken! They are still attached, but bent and twisted! I played with them for about 10 minutes before putting Da Bird away, though you would not believe the noise that a kitten (Spot) can make when he wants his favourite toy!

So, is everyone else the same? Or do yours last any longer?

I dont buy them things as Daisy would destroy it in no time, she has 5 balls all of varying sizes, none tho larger than a golf ball. However she prefers her orange one so I spend a bit of time playing football with her. She'll catch the ball in her paws & roll around with it,She loves that.

Ah! Maybe that's why it doesn't last very long :rotfl:It is for the kittens and not me?!!! :D

i try to avoid actually letting mine catch the feathers.......

every once in a while she is allowed too, then i quickly whip it away.

even bent she seems to really like it though....

however.. i find the most damage comes from the dog as it is her favourite toy as well....

My two kittens are so quick that I'm not sure I have the reflexes to stop them getting the feathers :rotfl:

    Hi Friday

I get live Locusts that i release a few at a time for the cats to hunt, it wears them out and gives them plenty of stimulation but thats if you don't mind a live locust flying around the home :D I do leave a few windows open so the locusts have the chance of escape though because you need to give them that chance.

Thanks, Kimberley! That's something I'd not thought of before, I will have to give it some consideration. My Robbie cat and the two kittens do chase flies that get in the house, the trouble with the kittens is that they are so intense on chasing the fly that they don't look where they're going, and so are always crashing into things :rotfl:. I'm sure there muct be loads of bruises behind those spotty fur coats :o So something perhaps to think about when they get a bit older.

Also have you thought about given them day old chicks or raw chicken wings? It takes them forever to play with them then eat them. I know some people don't like the thought of giving the chicks but they are dead and although they are mainly for snakes cats like to think they have caught it. I tie them around string as if they are flying and let the cats catch them.

I've given the older cats raw chicken wings, but they were not impressed, despite the fact that they would steal DH's raw meat if they could when he's not looking! (I'm a veggie). I will try it again with the two Bengals and see what they think ;).

For a moment there, I thought you meant live chicks for the cats to chase, play with and eat  I'm glad you clarified that :rotfl:
