Help! PC won't boot up

I got a BAD_POOL_CALLER blue screen error last night and now my PC will only boot to the windows starting up screen and then it reboots itself!

The only thing I did different was to update my crapcleaner software and then run it which seemed to crash, so I hit ctrl, alt, del and brought up task manager to end process which didn't seem to work. I then switched off via the on off switch and now it won't go any further than described above.

I have tried booting to safe mode but it won't and also tried reinstalling XP but it just keeps rebooting itself.

Any ideas anyone, my OH is fuming as she thinks it's all my fault!

A quick google search for the error message found this:-

Bad memory doesn't sound particularly relevant to you running an automated system checker, which would sound the most likely explanation for the sorry state windows is now in.

    Worth a try though.

I have seen the thread you mention and was of the same thought that it's not the memory. I may be able to borrow a PC and was wondering if I put my HD in and set it to slave can I copy my files over to the master drive? I really don't want to be stuck without a PC or lose all my files.
