Help - £400 to spend?

I have got £400 to spend on a laptop and want to go and get one today as I have put it off long enough. Being a complete technophobe I haven't a clue what I am buying to get best value, can someone please point me in the right direction? I want it simply for surfing and occasionally playing games on, as simple as that. I know the games bit requires a bit more techie stuff and that is where I am confused. So can you help please?

How about looking at the " The Great 'Cheapest Decent Laptop' Hunt" thread at the top of the forum? The name gives it away really...

The first thing I would do would to be book up a nightcourse at a local college to learn a bit more about a PC to get over your "phobia" of PCs then ask your self do you really need one and would a second hand PC be any good, usually cheaper but better I find, then maybe have a look around then if that doesnt work just go on a bender for a week or so.

    Anything here of any use?
