I have been asked for advice from my parents for the best tablet pc I know the ipad is great but they are interested in the galaxy tab but i have heard the xoom is good to which is best (no fan boys please)
They want a 10inch pad and would like to be able to move photos etc onto it is this possible without a usb or card slot as i dont think the galaxy or ipad have these?
Sorry 1 more thing do they all have access to android market?

How computer literate are your parents? iPads are very 'idiot proof', you don't need any computer skills at all.
There is an adaptor available allowing you to connect a camera (via a USB cable) or a SD card directly to an iPad. You can also move pictures, videos etc to an iPad via iTunes on a PC.
iPads don't have access to the Android app store, but I guess you already knew that!
I haven't used any other tablet PCs, so can't comment on them, sorry.0 -
I have tried the 2 acer ones (Iconia Tab). They have a USB port, an micro SD card slot, and HDMI out for connection to tv if you like
One is Windows based - so perhaps if they already have a PC this would be more comfortable for them
The other is Android based - so free (or cheap) software including Angry Birds, woo!
I've also had a go on a friend's iPad - looks nice, simple to use
The 10 inch tablets are all in approximately the same price range, £400 or so.
Why don't they go to Currys/Comet and have a little play with each one. The sales staff are happy to let you have a play on their toys0 -

iPAD does suit them as one of them is not great with computers but im sure the galaxy would also be simple. I heard you can conect the ipad to your pc as well via the usb charger lead and move photos etc that way is that correct? and also does aybody know if so can this also be done with the galaxy? If ive helped click thanks it will make me smile0 -

Will look at these thanks they did go to currys but fell unlucky with non trained staffIf ive helped click thanks it will make me smile0 -
Yes you can connect the iPad to your PC with the USB charger cable - that's what I meant when I mentioned iTunes - iTunes is the piece of software you use to move all data (including photos) to and from an iPad/iPhone/iPod, it's not just for music.
If you want trained staff, are you/your parents anywhere near an Apple shop? The staff there are usually happy to answer any questions you might have and will demonstrate how to use an iPad.0 -

You're right, I don't think they get much product training. I like to think of shops like this as viewing stores for things you would like to buyThen you can source it cheaper elsewhere.. Whoops, aren;t I bad.
If you do want an iPad, Humprey is right, the people in the Apple store are knowledgable and flowing with praise for their product!
I think it is really a matter of trying them all and picking the one you find most intuititve. (i.e. iPad, Android, Windows)
There is another option - I just saw on the Beeb that HP have withdrawn their offering... (can't remember the name) It went on the market at £400 and they are clearing it at £89. If you could get hold of one that could be an option, but it's a different batch of software again...
Best of luck
My dad had a go on my tablet, and he found not having a proper keyboard difficult. He also didn't like tapping with his finger on the screen instead of with a mouse (I can't imagine he was bothered about making the screen mucky, so it must have been fear of breaking it!) !! Bless the old trout!0
