Cargiant & PPI

Am trying to reclaim a miss-sold PPI from Cargiant but I have found their attitude to be very rude and intimidating whenever they call me. They even tried to call me a liar for saying that it was implied to me when the PPI was sold that my loan won't go through.
I have paid off the loan and PPI few months ago but claiming the PI back now is becoming a pain.
I got a call from one of their rep last week who initially threatened to go to court as I have 'lied' that the PPI was miss-sold but when I told him I'll see him in court the quickly said they are willing to settle out of court if I take an offer of £250 which I immediately rejected. He then called me back tonight and repeated the whole story again and offered £400 which I rejected again and told him I'll think about an offer in the region of £1500. His colleague who claimed to be his manager called back within 10 minutes and told me he is willing to make a final offer of £800 which he will put into writing and wait for my reply. I didn't give him any answer and is now expecting their letter.
1. What more can I do if I reject this offer which am thinking of rejecting and going for full repayment
2. I will like to know how much I can claim back for a PPI amounting to £2,038.60.
Thanks

Obviously we do not know the full details of your case.
You probably have no evidence that they indicated that the loan would not go through without PPI so that may cause a problem.
Was it a single premium added to the loan, though? That would make a difference.
Also, if their response is unsatisfactory (which it sounds like it will be), or not sent within 8 weeks of receiving your complaint, you can complain to the Financial Ombudsman Service. If they threatened to take you to court over the dispute, I would mention that, giving the date, approximate time and if possible the name of the person who called you.0 -
magpiecottage,
Thanks for your response. I don't think they probably have evidence that they didn't indicate that the loan would not go through without PPI either hence the reason they are even making an offer.
The total premium was £2038.60 which was spread over 48 months with with the monthly HP repayment.

If I remember correctly, Cargiant is a credit broker, so it is a loan rather than HP.
However, if the payment for the cover is included in it that suggests it was a single premium. I would expect a monthly premium policy to involve a separare direct debit to the insurer.
If that is the case, wait until the letter arrives or the 8 weeks expire. If the letter does not arrive or they offer £800 go to FOS, go directly to FOS, do not pass Go, do not collect £800!0 -
