Hi trying out my new kindle before I go on holiday. Tried to view my gmail on my new kindle but it says the latest version of safari isn't uploaded. Should I click the link? Wanted to make sure I didn't mess it up so thought I'd ask you helpful lot on here first.

Safari is the Apple browser??
just go to the experimental tab, launch browser and type in the gmail url.
It was preloaded in mine, have a look in bookmarks.
PS Try this one http://m.gmail.comThat gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Sorry, must have misremembered the error message that came up! Will try your recommendation and see what happens. Thought it might be because it's a refurb kindle.0

Might be worth checking that the Kindle is running the latest software.
IIRC its 3.1.

Checked and the version is 3.1. Have managed to open my emails by clicking on the mobile link. Will I be able to view hotmail using the kindle when I'm abroad? Not sure this will work abroad as couldn't get my hotmail on the unlocked mobile when I was away in April.0

Dunno about hotmail, I would of thought as long as you can get a 3g signal you can access any webmail anywhere. That gum you like is coming back in style.0

Similar to Gmail, the mobile version of hotmail should work ok on the Kindle's browser.
The URL is http://m.mail.live.com
The Kindle browser is WebKit-based, like Safari, and therefore gets misidentified as Safari by some sites.poppy100 -
Thanks for all the replies. Being able to view my hotmail on the kindle will save me some money, when abroad. Happy days.0
