Hi,
So sorry to hear you're going through so much trouble. I just have a small piece of advice re: your insurer. In my experience of insurance claims with companies that aren't keen to pursue the 3rd party, I generally find that making a nuisance of yourself is the best way to get the claim swiftly resolved.
A call each morning to ask what the status of your claim is and what they are doing to resolve the situation wears very thin, very quickly on an idle clerk and before long they usually end up doing something about it. Be pro-active and ask if there is anything you personally can do to speed up the process. i.e. if they say they are waiting to hear back from 3rd party insurer, ask who they were contacting and their number and ask to contact them yourself. They really hate that.
Before long, your insurer should start pulling their weight, afterall, it's what you pay them for.
Best of luck
