*whispers* i got my mum, sister, neice, sis in law and friends gorgeous Body Shop stuff throughout the
year using glitches, offers, money off vouchers and 30% LYB days, got them lovely stuff for very little,
took advantage of 24% Topcashback offers etc ... they won't know i paid so little, eg the free full
size body butters with orders are still £12.50 gifts as I see it

i have felt like this in the past but now if i go on what it would have cost full price, sometimes think it looks worse if you add to it cause then it may look like it was a cheaper/reduce item if you see what i mean

Oooh good idea. It comes with a tool that presses the playdoh out like spaghetti. Will check out £1 shop over weekend

I know exactly what you mean about not wanting to look cheap. I make a note of the 'real' price and take that into account. I picked up some eye lash curlers and nail files from Boots when they were doing the £5 off No 7 vouchers, so in actual fact, a £6 product has cost me £1. However, I don't expect anyone to know I used the voucher, so they will all think I paid £6.

I've done this although not quite so amazingly! My sister bought a troll bracelet and I used to work in the local stockist. So I had one ordered in and paid cost for it. I wondered if I should get her two, as it only cost me just over £10 instead of £26, but then, I thought...she wouldn't be able to get it for that, so it's still worth £26, isn't it?

I had these thoughts a couple of years ago, but have now started to think about the actual rrp rather than what I paid. I got loads of bits in the h&m sale, got my best friend sorted with 3 or 4 gifts for less than £4, rrp much higher though so that's the price I'm counting.

Its also fun to keep a running total of actual spend vs rrp to see how much you've 'saved'!

And, of course, its the thought that counts-I've bought presents my friends want, never mind cost, they'd rather have what I've bought than something impersonal from boots or thorntons!!!

I go on the value of the gift, not what I paid for it. Me getting a bargain doesn't reduce the worth of it to the recipient, and I'd be really pleased if someone got me a lovely gift for a fraction of the normal cost.

OP you have nothing to worry about. I spend my time trying to get things for the best price and just go on the actual price and the look of the thing.

Im another one that keeps track of the full cost as well as what I paid so I can see what I 'saved' too!
