Feel a bit tight ....

I have turned into a queen bargain hunter and I have managed to get my nieces and nephews a book, mini playdoh set and some sweets each for christmas......the problem is it came to the grand total of about 80p each. :rotfl:

Do you guys think I should buy them something extra??

  • ... not if it looks like an appropriate present. I wouldn't care how much it cost, but would be unimpressed if the sweets were nasty or the playdoh bone dry! ;-)

Sounds like a job well done to me.
  • I've done the same but I may have stretched to 90p. I bought most of my stuff from the BOGTF at Lloyds pharmacy.

My nephews birthday present I won, think I donated £3 to a rucksack to put it in. Nieces birthday was a peppa pig tower that should have been £26 and they were reduced to half price and on bogof, so she got one and DD has the other put away for christmas, so her present was £6.50

Dont worry about the cost, if its a decent present and it came from the heart, who cares about the price tag

  • Don't feel as bad now lol. It's 'real' play-doh and a pirate book with stickers. The sweets are just marshmallows but I think I am going to get some sort of christmasey chocolate to go with as well :)

I know what you mean I always have this dilemma and am often asking my mum if I need to get anything else! She's always say no and "you don't want to overload on presents just because you got them cheap otherwise people will always expect that amount and you might not always be able to get them that cheap!"

I'm always checking out offers/end of sales and lots of times have managed to pick up presents but then feel bad as its only a tiny amount - but then I think if I hadn't bought the items that cheaply I wouldn't be able to buy them at all, so she's right! You did well with your bargains!

Well done :T It's not the price its the thought that counts. I always try and do christmas and birthdays as cheaply as possible (needs must) -charity shops, boot fairs........amazing what you can find thats good as new. :)
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

  • as long as it looks nice and is new dont worry.

most of my kids presents have been bought in the sale, or like the thomas tank trains in newspape - buy the 40p paper take voucher to toys r us and get a £5.99 train free! if i can get decent stuff at a stupid price i'm happy.

I think you should just go on what the present is, not on how much it costs to buy. The person receiving the gift would not know how much you have paid for it would they. If you can get a bargain then that is what it is all about.
  • i think it sounds fine and they wont know the cost, if you had spent £5 in another shop would that justify it! If your worried buy them a selction box too, they always go down well dont they and bump up pressies.
Mummy of a beautiful little boy and fanatical about christmas :D:xmassmile:snow_laug:santa2:
  • agree totally, and good on you getting such great bargains! i always look at how much it would be
if you bought it full price the week before Christmas, that makes you think, after all they dont
know when you bought it :) but if someone had put the thought into buying something they knew
I would like, it wouldnt worry me at all if they got it 90% off. sounds like you have got them
    lovely pressies x
