passport problem

don't know if this is the right place but I'm sure it will be moved if not!;)
My son had to have a replacement passport about 18 months ago as he lost it. We sent all the relevant paperwork, including birth certificate and got the passport back no problem. We actually didn't check it properly when it came back as we have just discovered the birthdate in the passport is wrong!
This obviously needs sorting but can't afford to pay for the whole process to be done again, especially if the mistake wasn't ours in the first place.
Are we right to request that the passport office issues a replacement with the correct birthdate free of charge?

They will replace it free of charge. The same thing happened to me a couple of years back and I just rang them and returned the passport.Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

I know when I met my ex, I realised his (as yet unused 5 year old passport) had his D.O.B incorrect by a day.
He resubmitted it with a letter, his birth certificate again and new pictures and it came back with no charge.2 Tickets to Blackrock Masters Tennis:j0
