Need help/advice with dvd recorder!!!!

Good morning... I bought the BUSH DV3004 (see grab it forum) and although it was a good price I am now started to wonder if I might take it back....
I've followed their set up with my freeview box etc... but when we switch the DVD on... the image is not as sharp in fact not very good at all.. it flickers a bit and we can see in the background some wording (from tv i think) passing thru..... Also when i play a DVD there's also some background wording 'flying' the screen...
Also I can't seem to set it up to record on freeview... Sorry if all seems obvious for you but if anybody has any advice i would much appreciate...
thanks

To record, you have to set the channel to be recorded from as whatever LINE IN/connection you have connected the Freeview box up to....
i.e. my Freeview box is connected by scart -> DVD Recorder's LINE3 scart input, then the DVDR is connected by scart from the LINE1 scart out -> TV.
The RFlead follows the same route from Freeview box -> DVDR -> TV. So to record a programme, my DVDR is set to receive the signal from LINE3 (as the channel, so to speak).

The ghosting problem on Freeview TV is something I share, and is to do with the signal quality and maybe the aerial. Not the DVDr's fault.
The DVD playback ghosting I do not know about...but it might be a setting in the setup menu for playback?
  • thanks a lot Mercenary for your advice i shall try and sort it out this way...if i can find the LINE IN.....

ghosting 'might' be due to a cheap scart lead.

Oh...and the Freeview box has to be ON to transmit the signal when you are recording, of course! ;)

This is helpful for connections....select VCR for your DVD Recorder though...:
