Temporary carpeting for winter.

Hello everyone, this is my first post, but I've been watching the forum for a while now.
I have stripped wooden floorboards in the lounge diner and while I have sealed all the cracks and gaps with caulk, we still loose a lot of heat in this area during the winter.
I've looked at buying loads of rugs, but this works out very expensive. So I thought about getting a role of carpet and roughly fitting it myself, then store it away next spring. I can get the capet I need for £150.
Just wondering what people think of this idea? has anyone done this before? Will it work, or is there a better idea?
thanks,
mark.

Yes I suppose this would be effective.
Is you stripped would floor a floating floor? ie, is there a cavity between the floor boards and the solid ground below. If yes then you should consider putting insulation underneath.
It will require you pulling up the boards to do this BUT it would be a one time thing where as a temporary arpet would be a faff to lay and pull up again each year.0 -
youre better off insulating inbetween the joists below the floor, just caulking or carpeting wont help imo0

The lounge diner is on the ground floor and there is a cavity under the flooring. There are air bricks at both ends of the room (in the cavity). Can I still insulate the cavity?0

It may be worth battening underneath the joists, then laying insulation inbetween th joists (on the batterns) then relay the floorboards.
This will insulate the floor while still leaving a gap underneath (Which is good for ventilation!!)0
