Story so far .........
Phoned 2 Sept to say need replacement bt phone as rented one had konked out. Indian guy said same phone could be ordered and it would be delivered Tuesday 6th. He said it would either by Royal Mail or courier
Phoned on Thursday 8th to ask where the phone was. Indian lady says it is out of stock. 'System' allowed her cancel order but I would have to phone back in 24 hours to re-order.
Friday 9th , couldn't face calling them
Saturday 10th tried again. Was told I could not order the same phone as it was no longer made ! ( being told it was out of stock must have been a fib then !) Ordered a big button phone and was told it would arrive on Tuesday 13th. Told the lady please deliver by Royal Mail as the road is closed and the courier may think they can't reach the house.
Thursday 15th had a letter delivered by Royal Mail from courier saying they have a parcel that they cannot deliver as the road is closed !
All this relates to my Mum, thankfully she still has a phone because I plugged one in for her. BT does not know that though. She could have been without a phone for what is now 14 days and counting. At 79 it is not good to be without a phone !
I think BT's service is appalling.

What on earth are you doing allowing her to rent a phone? They cost from about £3 in Argos (other retailers are available) and you're likely to be able to pick up a good corded one for her for nothing on Freecycle/Freegle.
You could even get her a BT big button phone on ebay for £10 or so (about the cost of 3 quarters' rental).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Yes I agree with you, but it's what she wanted and sometimes there's just no changing their minds :cool:0

can you not buy her a phone, and say it came from BT?0

Aleslyne, I've been thinking of that. I'd rather just be honest about it though !
I can feel a trip to Argos coming on.0 -
Hi Longforgotten,
If you send me in your details using http://bt.custhelp.com/app/contact_email/c/4950 I can take a look to see what is happening with that order for the replacement phone.
Thanks
