Hi Mr Chimps I have 4 claims in with HFC/Benficial/householdbank but unfortunately went through a claims company and am now stuck in limbo. My cliams started in June 2010 and like you the loans were arranged face to face in their branch in Norwich and on each occasion we were told that the loan would not be approved unless we agreed to take out PPI during the application process. They never asked about our current circumstances or gave us the option of having the loan without PPI, in fact the third time we took out the loan the agent just said that he didn't need to explain the PPi as we knew how this worked and that was it. I contacted the claims company last week to see if their was any progress and was told that 2 of my claims were with the ombusman and with the current back log not to expect to hear about these for at least another 18 months, my other 2 claims were still with HFC and that there was nothing the claims company could do to hurry these through. In summary I could be waiting another 18 months at least and still not get any refund. Hope you have better luck than me and avoid using any of the claims companies advertising on TV etc as once you sign up with them you can not pull out of the claim as they will automatically charge you for their time spent dealing with the claim, although in my case not quiet sure what time is been spent on chasing my cliams if any at all.0

Hi there, i hope you come back and read this!! sorry no one helped you with this, the threads are moving at an alarming rate these daysHello Everyone
I have had several accounts with HFC (4 in total) some of which were defaulted on and went to collections. They are all paid up now though. Just wondered, would they have still taken the PPI even though it went to collections? Would they have sold the loan AND the PPI to the DCA or just the loan.
Thanks
The whole loans with ppi would have been sold over.
If you think you were mis sold the ppi.
look here for reasons for mis sell

To update.
this morning a letter arrived to me and mrs chimps, with an offer of £3,710.89 in full and final settlement.
I still haven't picked my jaw off the floor!
We have both signed the acceptance letter and im about to send it back recorded delivery.
Is there anything else I need to do - or will they stick to their word and pay the money into my account within 28days?

Just a quick lesson to you all - having read all about these claims I decided to have a go. I had taken out a loan in 1998, which was about £10k to clear all credit cards. This loan came with a cheque book, and about 4 years later I added to the loan (or topped it up towards the upper limit). Each month I paid an element of interest, and element of capital and a PPI premium.
I am still paying it back, but thought that because it was more than 6 years old couldn't do anything. I read that this wasn't the case so decided to claim. At that time I was approached by a PPI company so decided to use them as I felt too busy to spend the time (YES I KNOW!!!) - they weren't interested because the start was too far back and the person on the end of the phone said that wouldn't be claimable.
So following your easy steps I went through the claim procedure and have just received HFC's offer - £32+k!!!!! Unbelieveable!! And this is after they settle the last £3k of the loan too!
Claim companies - pah!
Just imagine if they had taken me on, that would have cost me about £18k in fees!
Take this lesson folks - it is easy to claim, it doesn't take time, and YOU DON'T NEED A CLAIM FIRM!0
