Do you have the handbook? That will detail what the car actually needs.

Depending on age/miles it could be oil, all filters then maybe plugs, gearbox oil? Fairly wide ranging really.

What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

You can't say K**k F*t on here! The K**k F*t MSE Polis will clamp down on you. :p

Ring up your main dealer and ask for the menu servicing price. That will set a starting point for other prices. Some brands have fairly competitive pricing for services.

  • Do you have the service book for your car? It will tell you in there what should be included in the service for the current mileage.

It's very difficult to answer that question really because it could be all sorts of things aside the normal, but i'd expect all filters (air, fuel and pollen/cabin), oil and filter change, spark plugs. Some include lubrication of certain parts like door hinges etc.

Have a look at this though, it's very useful.

a full service depends on which service it is
could be from the basics to a full on service with parts like a timing belt

I've just been quoted £241.37 for a full service on a 2009 Toyota Yaris (by the dealer). After some discussion (I've done 7500 miles in that time and am a pensioner) they offered:
    1) A small service for £105 (since it's such a small mileage)
    2) A reduction down to £185, which they said is what Kwik Fit would charge*.

Don't know if that helps you at all? But I think you should try for a discount.

    * Ah, the Kwik-Fit website says this price for a full service Plus MOT.

I recently paid £160 for a full service on a 1.3l Toyota in London, which I thought was pretty reasonable. Assuming that they've done it properly of course - I don't really know this garage yet.

And you're Peter Duncan; I gave you fair warning
  • All I would say is if it is an older car and you are not so worried about the selling on aspect with regards to a full dealer service history, find yourself a good local mechanic that you can build up a relationship with.

Generally they will be far cheaper than a main dealer and will probably do a better job.

    This is good advice!
  • £99 for a full service = and oil and filter change a list of extras they recommend you replace NOW.

You really need to read the terms and conditions and also the smallprint to know what your getting.

Parents almost used national & quickfit for a service until i pointed out that most of the items on the very long
webpage were CHECK ONLY. Only the oil and filter got replaced.
