Wearing my Engagement ring on holiday

Hi

I'm after a little advice, we're going on holiday this weekend (our first since we got engaged) and not sure whether its ok for me to wear my platinum engagement ring in the pool/sea?? Will this tarnish it in any way? I hate taking it off but also wouldnt want to damage it.

Any advice would be appreciated

  • should be fine, so long as it doesn't slip off

To be honest, if you are going abroad, I recommend you wear a cheap ring instead, there are a lot of dubious people out there.
Out where? In 'abroad'? Because the UK has *such* low crime rates...

OP - a diamond, and platinum can't tarnish, but make sure you dry your fingers and the ring carefully, as the salt water can irritate skin if it's trapped behind the ring against your finger.

    Have a great hols. x

I refused to take mine off when we went on hol in April. In fact, the sand and the salt water make it more shiny! You'll be fine. Fingers swell in the heat, make sure you dont get stuck. OR, vice versa it isnt too big it may go awandering

  • Platinum is a noble metal and you should be fine. Chlorine or salt water won't tarnish it.

Mine have been all around the world on my hands, in the sea, in pools and on the beach etc, also snowboarded in them and sledged etc. No damage and they have never budged. Platinum wth white and black diamonds and as someone else stated above, salt water makes it more shiny.
    Enjoy your holiday.

  • It won't tarnish but I'd be tempted not to wear it in the sea in case it slipped off!

I know it's obvious, but make sure your insurance covers it should anything happen.

I won't be wearing mine on honeymoon (prob going to Asia or Africa), am terrified of damaging/losing it, or being robbed!

Know the feeling, but (when married) I'm wearing my engagement ring first then my wedding ring so I can't wait to get my wedding ring so it feels more secure. At the moment I wouldn't even wear it swimming in the local baths in case it came off.
