Sick pay and new claim for wtc advice please ?

Hi , I've read alot of useful info on here recently , but need a little advice please .
Basically there is me and my partner , 3 kids ( new baby , 5yrs and 9yrs )

We are in the process of waitnig for a new child/working tax credit claim.
It's been about 5 weeks upto now , but I have recently been signed off work due to stress / depression , I'm getting ssp which is around £82 pw , and child benefit which is £188 pm.
I'm wondering are we entitled to anything else in the meantime , as at the moment 5 of us are surviving on around £120 pw , falling behind on bills etc.
I'm also wondering how best to deal with the wtc side of things whilst being off sick , as I don't want to mess anything up that would delay the current claim , but would it be classed as a change in circumstances , or would it need to be a new claim again ?
Thanks for any advice

I've been trawling the net , but can find nothing definative , thankyou.
  • I think you will have to post a lot more info as regards income to get a decent response, or try the benefits calculator on here. What income is your partner bringing in?

My income last year was £19008 , partner's a stay at home mum .
The main thing I'm wondering is , on £82 pw ssp , and £188 pm cb , should I be entitled to something to top my ssp up ?
The problem is , the new claim for tax credits is ongoing at the moment , so we are literally living on around £120 pw between 5 of us , once the claim is processed we will be ok , I will hopefully be back in work sooner rather than later .
  • Statutory Sick Pay and other benefits

If your income is low while you are on Statutory Sick Pay, you might be able to increase it by claiming other benefits, such as Income Support, Pension Credit, Jobseeker's Allowance, Housing Benefit or Council Tax Benefit.
You may qualify for Child Tax Credit if you have at least one dependant child.
You may qualify for Working Tax Credit for the first 28 weeks of Statutory Sick Pay if you were in full-time paid work before your Statutory Sick Pay started. You will only continue to receive Working Tax Credit after 28 weeks if your partner also qualifies for it.

I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!
