Another point, anything you are asked to sign is NOT a receipt it is a contract,Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Thank you hallo - very good advice there

FD - sorry you have not mis-read - its me, i have not worded it correctly (changin now!) as another replyer has thought ive paid money. And yes - I have bailed her out before & hence the reason I am not paying this one! But you are right.
VAX thank you for your comment - He did not give me any paper work i think he was marstons (on his clipboard i got a glance of) and i didnt pay him any money sorry i have edited my post it sounded like i had - i was going to next week.0 -
How exactly did you know he was a bailiff and not a debt collector, what does it say on the paper work and receipts he gave you for your money and do they have a SIA number written on them.
the SIA has nothing to do with the bailiff industry bailiffs collecting magistrate court fines should be certificated however they are allowed a 6 months Grace period before they get certificatedI am not an expert I am self taught i have no legal training any information I post is based on my own personal experience and information gained from other web sites
If you are in any doubt please seek legal/expert advice help0 -
Good point Vax, you sign, you will no doubt pay.
I've to look forward to my kid growing up and no doubt get the headaches, obviously not sure of your relationship now with your girl going by the very rare times you see her, but if still ok, time to have a sit-down me thinks.

Thank you hallo - I think I had better ring that number you gave me!!
sorry I had worded my OP incorrectly - i had agreed to pay money next week but did not pay anything.
I didnt get any paperwork or any forms - and def did not sign anything!!
I just assumed he was a balieff as he told me he was for the magistrates court & knew all the details about my daughter and her fine.0 -
Don't pay him. If he shows his face again, ask for ID first and foremost. Write this down - take a picture of it on your phone if possible. Explain to him first of all that you intend to report him to the Information Commissioners Office for discussing your daughters financial affairs with you, which he isn't allowed to do. Make it very clear that you will also be keeping detailed notes of EVERYTHING he says, and that you have no intention of allowing him to talk to your boss or landlord, as they have no connection to your daughter whatsoever, and discussing any details with them would be an even clearer breach of the DPA than discussing it with you.0

I suggest a very strong formal complaint to this burk's employer. This is pure haressment.
I also suggest that both you and your daughter need to make a formal complaint to the Information Commisioner because he is breaking the dpa BY DISCUSSING YOUR DAUGHTER'S DEBT WITH YOU.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I wouldn't pay him and I would advise him that you need his name as you will be contacting the police over his intimidation, he is essentially demanding money from you that you do not owe and threatening to disrupt your work enviroment if you do not pay. You are under no obligation to prove where your daughter lives.
Not your debt, he should not be contacting you at all, particularly at work, let alone disclosing private information concerning your daughters debt to you, there is a data protection act and he is in breach of it.
I understand that she is your daughter and you want to help but by paying this man you are not helping. He is contacting you and bullying you because he thinks you will pay. Since it's not your debt you have no idea if the charges added on this account are actually £300 or 5p, he is making things up to scare you into giving him money. He is mugging you but with a clipboard. If I cut you out of my life I can guarantee you handed me the scissors0 -
FD I have 7 (grown up now) children... most of which I have a fantastic relationship with - however the one mentioned here, is a bit of a wild one!! ... I will definatly be having that chat with her - when i can get hold of her that is...!0

A lot of people actually fall for the deception of "signing" what they think is a receipt, Debt collectors, bailiffs are dab hands at tricking people in to signing contracts disguised as receipts with used car dealers the next.
Anything you are asked to sign, is usually a contract and if you are purchasing anything and asked to just sign here to say, walk away and shop elsewhere .Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
