ive heard all the news and radio talk in shows on this.
they are confusing... confusing to who? complete morons?
probably the same people who say "woe is me, how can i afford the new tuition fees for my kids?"

either abolish them and use a production date, or keep them as it is, talk about a nonsense story.

ps. in China, everything has a production date on it and it works really well.
Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)

new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,000

How many of us buy a box of eggs & put them in a egg tray & bin the box, which has the use by date on them, and then use them after the use by date is up??...I know I do!

There were no use by/best before dates until 1972, shops just rotated stock properly and people survived and if you think about it a lot of tinned stuff was saved during the war for special occassions and was still edible after four or five years, people would never have thrown food away because of a best before date.

I believe that honey has been found in Egyptian tombs which was edible!

Apparently some food which was put in tins in the Napoleonic wars was found a couple of hundred years later and was eaten without any ill-effects. As long as the tin hasn't blown it should be ok.

Most eggs bought in supermarkets have the date stamped on them. I have used them a fair amount! Although I believe the "sink or swim" test for eggs is what to go on rather than dates :)

Yoghurt is usually ok up to a week after the sell by date spike :D

But can still be good over a year after the sell by date. I've proved this. :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Not really, shops will still have to reduce things in order to rotate new stock & it doesn't affect items like meat, cheese, fish ect so they'll still be reduced as normal

spike, I seem to remember that this was your idea in the first place?
