This time last week I had that feeling of freedom when I got out of court, I felt it was a new beginning.

I had similar fears the night before, but on the day it did seem like an anti climax, like others have said.

In the week I've enjoyed telling my creditors the good news, and from getting 20 calls a day asking for payment in the last few days it has gone all gone silent:)

Good luck, I'm sure it will go well for you:)

Hi Mazman, thanks for your words of support, I'm sure it will go ok for me and glad you are feeling better after court last week. Must be a nice feeling to tell those creditors the good news :)

I dont venture theses boards often but i want to wish you well and will look back at this post one day and wonder why you worried... i hope a fresh start brings all your wishes..
It is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.
  • Good luck Lala. I took my husband with me when I filed for BR just over 4 years ago, but was very lucky as I didn't even see a judge. You will feel at your lowest before your BR especially at the court (I went to the magistrates court by mistake at first as I felt like a criminal at the time:o). When you leave the court you will feel very odd, not happy, maybe just relaxed which is a feeling that you won't have felt for a long time.

Well done for keeping your daughters unaware, that is the key thing. My kids still have no idea about my BR, all they know is that there used to be a time that they were not allowed to play downstairs, and had to hide if anyone ever came to the door:(. But now they can play again, and life is much better.

Good luck to you, and everyone else with BR dates.

  • Good luck to you lala and you too shap. You'll be fine.

The feeling of getting your life back to some sort of 'normality' after all the mad whirlwind of going bankrupt is a great feeling. It really is like the calm after the storm.

There's all the preparation and worrying beforehand, getting info ready for the court, then the court day itself, which passes by real quickly and then you come out and take a deep breath, and slowly, just ever so slowly, things start getting better. You begin to sleep at night at last and stop fretting everytime the phone goes and you realise it is not the end of your world after all. :) Your world may now be a bit different and you may not recognise it at first, but it is yours to run with, go for it. :j

    Good luck.
