Kefalonia?

It's been suggested to us that we should take a trip to Kefalonia but haven't a clue where on the island would be best. It's a beach holiday for a grown up family of five, not wanting the lively music clubs/bars, but looking for an authentic Greek place within easy walking distance of both beach and restaurants etc. Perhaps a bit of sightseeing thrown in too.
Any suggestions?Thanks

The island is really beautiful and we really enjoyed our 1 week trip... we stayed on the outskirts of Lassi, plently of places to eat. Its not far from Argostoli the capital (still a small town). When we went at the beginning of May the buses were nt running into town, although we had a car so this was nt a problem. Also Lassi is not far from the airport.

The island is more expensive than many other greek islands, everything is imported we found Crete and Rhodes a lot cheaper, but not as pretty

Natalie Apartments in Skala.
Beautiful village, totally uncrowded, no noisy night life, a stone's throw from the beach and lots of tavernas. Full English cooked breakfast was 6 euros on the main street. Spent a fabulous week there last October.
