Unwanted Neighbours - What to do?

Like what? :P0

Depends on what the application says, go to the town hall, have a read then discuss it with one of the planning officers. They can give you guidance on what is considered a reasonable objection (traffic, parking, local planning policies) and what is nimbyism (property prices) and how to go about putting your objection in.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I'm not assuming the worst. I've heard from many people who live near these houses about the grief they receive from these kids. I'm not saying the schemes are bad, just dont want to be living next door to one when Im planning on selling my house within the next few years. Ill be losing money and in these tough property times I dont need another hurdle.
Can I tell you about some of the good stuff then? The kids I used to work with probably single handedly kept the village shop open, were supervised at all times and were incredibly polite to all people in the village. They ignored any comments put their way and in public at least, normally acted with incredible good grace. They were accepted by the neighbours and the local community, they played on the local football teams and took part in fundraising in the local community. People only get to hear the bad, so there's some of the good from someone who has had first hand experience.

prejudgment isn't a good thing, nor is snobbery.0

I doubt the posters above would be quite so unbothered if the center for kids with behavioural difficulties was moving next door to them! It is going to bring about some problems from time to time, that is for sure, but they do have to go somewhere!
Unlucky chap, that they're trying to move next to you! But it could be worse... they could be moving next to me! Phew.0 -
Oh I don't know - might make a change from my bail hostel, B&Q and mosque. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

if you are genuinely worried, then ask to contact the head office. Ask for a meeting (possibly a small public one for concerned neighbours) and raise concerns: if children are seen putting themselves or others at risk, or if there is unreasonable noise, who do you contact? How will they respond? What can you expect? Are there rules about visitors to the centre, and how are they enforced? etc. etc.
Put this in writing if they are not prepared to meet you, but usually they welcome the chance to clear the air.
Contact your local councillor if the centre are not responsive.0 -
Having a hard to sell house isn't a good thing either.
Nothing snobby about not wanting to live next door to problem children (or adults either). "Emotional and Behavioural difficulties"; sounds like a pile of scallies to me.
You lot are so self-righteous it makes me laugh. You'd probably welcome a load of ne'er do wells moving in next door just so you could show off how tolerant and right-on you are. LMAOLove the animals: God has given them the rudiments of thought and joy untroubled. Do not trouble their joy, don't harrass them, don't deprive them of their happiness.0 -
Glad someone is on the same wavelength pendulum + thisledome! ;-)0

Having worked in a unit like this, I can honestly say no, it wouldn't bother me. Honest to god. I'd rather live next to them than our old neighbour, who used to be heard at all hours screaming at her little girl that she hated her and she'd ruined her life.
