USB to HDMI for laptop to TV?

Hi,

I have a TV with HDMI input, and want to connect a laptop (without HDMI).
Have been looking for some sort of HDMI to USB converter, but what I've found so far has been expensive and somewhat confusing

Is there a cheap way of connecting the 2 together?

Do you have an external monitor socket? (15 pin d-type)
  • you wouldn't be able to just use a USB to HDMI cable as you have to pass a signal from the laptop to the TV. To do that you need to use a video output; HDMI, S-Video or VGA as mentioned about; a standard USB port doesn't pass a video signal for you to use.
