Noisy fridge-freezer

We bought a new Candy fridge-freezer about three months ago. It's working fine, but every time it switches on it makes about half a dozen loud cracking noises. I don't recall it doing this when we first had it, so is it something we should be worried about? Thanks.

  • Bumped for the wekend :o
  • For what it's worth, I have a frost free fridge-freezer just over a year old (Hoover) - it works fine but is very noisy and also makes cracking sounds! I haven't worried about it as I just assumed it's something to do with the self defrosting bit.

    bumped up again for you!!

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I have just had to forkout £25 for my freezer Christmas week I ignored the loud knocking on start up and then it failed!!!!!
I got an engineer and he came next day most of the christmas goodies hadnt defrosted thank the lord,
The engineer told me the self defrosting freezers can get a build up of ice then the fan ceases to work ( which mine had done) he cleared it fairly easily but I am going to check regularly that the drain hole is clear and that it is sitting level. I also clear out the drain of the fridge with a pipe cleaner gets very mucky ugh!
  • Thanks aycor and lotto-dreamer for the information :)
  • as yours is only 3 mths old has not had time to build up ice round fan, so probably system noises ie. the gas contracting and expanding as it goes round the pipes, - nothing to worry about.

    Thanks, that's reassuring.

Is it well ventilated? They tend to make more noise if they're having to work harder, eg. if they're housed in a cupboard.
