baby bath question

hiya

not sure if this is the right place to post?

me and hubby are about to buy a house and currently the house we are looking at doesnt have a bath in (it does have room though)
neither of us have baths so its ok for us--

but-
from december we will be ttc

so my question is-
do we need a bath for a baby?- i know that might sound silly!-
i know there are baby baths- but how long are these ok for?
thanks

Second time around I bought a washing up bowl for about £2 and used that to bath DS in. I found he always enjoyed his baths much more than DD did (in a proper baby bath) and I put that down to him being more enclosed in a smaller bowl. Plus it's a hell of alot lighter to carry than a big baby bath full of water! Then when they've grown out of the bowl, you can bath them in the sink. It's at the right height, and there's nothing more fun for a baby than a sink bath!! :D

we used one for about 8 months.. and stood it on the foor or the kitchen table.

A washing up bowl or the kitchen sink will do for a while too.

or you could take it in turns to whizz the baby in the shower with you.

My friends who had no bath used a baby bath in the bottom of their shower until their baby was old enough to stand and then showered with him. Personally I like a bath, particularly in the late stages of pregnancy, so would want both, but it is possible to manage without even with a young baby.

In our current house we don't have a bath only a rather large shower. I hate baths, with a passion, they make me feel dirty.

We have a bub due in February, and we'l need to cope with a baby bath, until we move!

  • Personally we couldn't have coped without a bath my little man hated being in the baby bath but loved having a bath with me and he absolutely hates the shower at the moment.
Silence is golden...unless you have a toddler. In that case silence is very, very suspicious!

I loved sharing a bath with my daughter when she was a baby. I think you would manage ok without a bath , you can use a baby bath ok, but a lot of little ones aren't so keen on shower's, but then if it's all they are used to they will probably be fine, be prepeared to get drenched showering a toddler though!!! Good luck.
