the claims guys questions

received a letter today from the claims guys saying the hsbc are going to refund me £3936.46 which will be paid into my account :) the claims guys fee is £1417.13 expensive but i can except this

but the 2 things i have to do is

1 sign the acceptance form and send it back to them

2 pay their fees by credit card cheque etc

both have to be done before i get my money. how can that be right surely i get my money then i pay them

can i send the acceptance form straight to the bank to get the money. then pay the claims guys. if so where do i send the form plus is there a phone number to ring the bank?

thanks rob

I think from what I have read previously that you do have to pay the claims company first Rob, one of the problems with using them!! the other being the charges usually around 30%
    Successes
    Sainsbury's/BOS £6,400 Paid :)
    MBNA £3,600 Paid :)
  • not sure i want to pay them first they took over a year to sort this out. and i have no idea how long it will take for them to get me my share. plus its alot of money to lose if they rip me off

Rock and a hard place I'm afraid :( and reading other posts it can take weeks for the banks to pay out after sending the acceptance form back, congratulations on getting the right result but it looks like you will have to square up with the claim company first

  • Have a look at this thread.

You may have grounds for complaint (you would need to study the MOJ rules).
  • As the banks won't pay out to a third party surely they will after receiving the acceptance letter credit the funds into the op's bank account.

And how can you be ok with that fee !

All they will have done is send a simple letter to your bank to initiate the claim.

Something thats been done by myself and thousands of others without the assistance of these sharks.

I too have claimed and won against hsbc.

    One e mail to them.
Two page questionnaire completed and returned.
Two letter replies by hsbc keeping me in the loop.
Claim made May 2011 and claim upheld Sep 2011.
Fee = Nothing, zero , nada.

I would sign the acceptance form and send it straight to the bank whilst instructing them to only correspond with you alone.
Once the funds are credited then deal with the sharks, i mean claim company.
  • not saying i ok with it just i can except it as i have done no work and i entered in to the agreement knowing the charges. i only expected about 2k any way so was more than i thought.
i wish i knew then what i know now but hey.
