When I post a comp I'll not go short cut anymore ie : clicky etc I will show you the proper URL Link like the above all you need to do is : Copy as posted and paste it to your browser to open this way - and the sponsor will not know that this comp comes from MSE referrer website! And you will have better chance in winning.

Does this really happen - the mse discrimination bit - surely the point of running a comp is gain publicity and the more the better?

Depends on whether you wanna win or not. I found out that when we clicked referrer link - the sponsor either deleted our entry or set our entries aside so its up to you really.

All comps are meant for their own members like say mothercare users. And how many are there in MSE entering comps? In hundreds....

Rumours abound but most promotors seem not to discriminate.

I'd not worry too much.Sometimes I just drag the clicky link to my toolbar. This works on Firefox & does not show MSE as the referrer.
Even with clicky links you could just right click & use the the short link to C&P it to your address box.

Or get FF Refcontrol as mentioned by Amiluck :-)
