how do people think they can get away with it?

Options
first off im not bashing benefit claimants. benefit is there for those that need it but why do some people think they can get away with blatant benefit fraud? and then some of them have the audacity to try and get away with it again and again....

for instance mr 'working for £1.50 less than the minimum wage and has been for the past 2 years' yes bank statements show credits above and beyond household income.

those who state they dont claIM TAX CREDITS AND WHEN YOU CALL TAX CREDITS TO DOUBLE CHECK YOU FIND OUT THEY DONT RECEIVE AS THEY EARN TOO MUCH.

sorry for shouting there. slip of the fingers.

and then theres the 'capital secreters' who have over 16k in capital that we dont know about.

so a warning to anyone who may be thinking of fiddling the system, and i dont believe for a mo that anyone here would but if you know someone who is then tell them from me you will get found out eventually.

we receive what are called HBMS Files that inform us of our assessments being based on wrong information. these matches are a basis of EVERY government body computer talking to eachother. so for tax purpses we will know eventually if you have over 16k n the bank or are working a sly couple of hours extra a week or receiving an undeclared benefit like DLA.

you wouldnt believe the latest batch we have....123k capital on one of them yet they claim benefit.

  • It's amazing how there were never any jobs for the unemployed, but the eastern Europeans seemed to manage to find them!

Some do defraud the system, that's true.

Many more don't claim what they are entitled to.

As a benefits adviser, I think that if the government made the rules clearer and didn't keep changing them, and if the DWP employed more staff capable of understanding simple documents (and implementing them correctly according to their own rules and regulations), then there would be less confusion and 'fraud' all round.

I worked for the DWP years ago, and had to take exams before I was employed by them to do that. Nowadays, the often incoherent and semi-literate missives that are often sent by them, and by the nutty phone conversations I often have with some of their employees, suggests that you only have to be able to walk and breath at the same time to get a job with them.

Having said all that, they do have a difficult job as some claimants are 'orrible.

The current government propoganda is to imply (via the media) that ALL those on benefits are scroungers and could work if they chose to.

This is obviously rubbish, there are people who are too sick to work and there are areas where there is no work, and as the government allows more and more cheap labour into the country, it's obvious that the benefits bill will rise anyway.

    Lin :(
You can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset. ;)
