Hi
Im wondering if anyone can tell me if I have a hope in hells chance of reclaiming what i feel is mone having been stolen from our account.
Bit of history, we bought a maytag fridge freezer which broke down (helpfully) on the 23rd Dec 2008. It was just out of warranty and the repair charges are astonomical so we were advised to take out £249 insurance with domestic and general for a year plan which would cover the repairs and call out fee. I have paperwork to say the period of plan was from Dec 2008 to Dec 2009. So I am embarresed to say I forgot all about it, and only just realised they are still taking out a monthly payment (i am a terribel money saver!). The payments have changed, and we have NEVER recieved anypaperwork to say the plan was continuing.
So, I contacted D&G and they told me they have sent renewal notices out (for 2009-2010, and 2010-2011) which I have never recieved. I know this because I save all paperwork, and also I would have most definately cancelled it as I feel all appliance insurance is a complete rip off.
They have basically told me I dont have a leg to stand on as it was up to me to cancel the direct debit. But I am 100% sure they sold it to me for the year only. They are going through the archived telephone converstaions to find out.
Do i have a leg to stans on, its about 350 quid all told?
Thanks in advance (note to self, check bank statements more thoroughly!).

Hi there
Sorry to hear that.
So I take it you made a reclaim on getting the insurance back, but this have failed?
Did they give you the opportunity to write back with further info, or have they confirmed its the complaint is closed.
If not then write back and tell them you do not agree with the reasons they gave you for rejecting your complaint.
But otherwise you could try contacting the FOS who may be able to help or even suggest another avenue on this, for example, the underwriter/insurer of the policy.
Good luck.

No you dont have a leg to stand on. You took out a annual extended warranty and you said your self you forgot. If they prove they send renewals then its more likely than not that you received them.0
