Hi
unfortunately i was made redundant on 05/09/11 .We were given no prior notice .knew the company wasn't doing great but we had all been working long hours to help out .Monday at shift change over all
called up to the office and told that effective immediately we were being closed and the company liquidated .Its now been a week and half and i have not heard anything .The company was also part of a larger group of companies and i wonder if i have any way of trying to get a better redundancy payout from them.i was with the company for twenty years .
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated
cheers murph

Unlikely you'll get more than the statutory minimum, I'm afraid.
If no union involved then you will need to contact the company to find out who the administrators are to find out what is happening re redundancy payments. Probably be paid by the government if the company is insolvent - see link below.
