Why can't i 'thank' posts?

hi,
not sure if this is the right place, i was wondering why i am only allowed to 'thank' some posts but not others at the moment? I get a message saying i may not have access or asking me if im trying to edit someone elses post?
Very frustrating
would appreciate some advice

You can't thank if you're not actually logged in.
The thanks button sometimes goes AWOL, even if you are logged in. I find it comes back if I refresh the screen.Signature removed for peace of mind0
