Mine is flapping like mad in the wind and driving me nuts as I keep thinking there's someone at the door!
Any ideas? It isn't springloaded. Would something heavy taped to the underside slow it down and if so what? It isn't magnetic, and I'm sure pound coins, although the right size, would go missing pronto!!

And there was me just thinking I had to put up with it! Never thought of trying to do something about it. I will use the blutac I have lying around from when I took my Christmas cards down.
Thanks everyone for the tip.I'm so sorry if you were enjoying this thread and mine is the last post!!
I seem to have a nasty habit of killing threads!0 -
Mine is the aluminium type and did the same. I used a thick elastic band round the flap and pulled through to the inside round the box at the back. Postie could get it open and it kept it shut.

We stick a sock in ours when its windy(we always laugh and wonder if this is where the saying comes from) but I do think the other suggestions are probably more sensible.0

I think the new ones lift up from the outside so the wind actually keeps them shut - they are sooooooooooo cheap to do but we have just had new windows and doors and ours has such a draught and they wont listen to us - we have taped above it with brown parcel tape a large piece of bubble wrap which hangs down below it and keeps it warmerSaving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0
